Community Energy Project - Let us know what you think
As part of the emerging plans for community-owned renewable energy project we are looking to get the opinions of local residents on the idea and give us some feedback on which areas of life in West Kilbride you would like to see benefit from the revenue that this project would generate. We would be very grateful if you could take a few moments to complete a brief survey

Community Energy ProjectOver the last few months Transition West Kilbride has been
looking at the possibility of developing a community-owned wind turbine in
partnership with Southannan Estate.
Following the example set by Fintry, Gigha and others, this would be a
fantastic opportunity to generate low-carbon sustainable electricity equivalent
to a significant proportion of West Kilbride’s energy consumption and also
importantly, to generate a considerable revenue stream which can benefit the
whole community, helping to make West Kilbride a more enjoyable, sustainable
and resilient place to live. Over
the coming months we will make more information available and will be looking
to get feedback, comments and suggestions on the proposals and on how the
benefits could be distributed to the community. In the meantime, for more information or to find out how to get involved please contact us via email at

TWK Funding UpdateNews just in regarding our funding application... unfortunately we were unsuccessful this time but are regrouping and looking for possible future funding. Meanwhile TWK is still here and remember we have a film night tonight (Wed 14th March) in the Village Hall (7pm start) and our sponsored prize at the Horticultural Society Spring Show on Saturday 17th. Film Night for Climate WeekWed 14th March 7pm in the Village HallAs part of climate week we are holding an open film night in West Kilbride Village Hall. We're going to show 'The Economics of Happiness' which is a film by the International Society for Ecology and Culture. The film looks at how communities around the world are moving from globalisation to a more localised way of living, and the benefits this brings to individuals, communities, the economy and the environment. There is no charge to come along and the film lasts for roughly an hour. We'll be providing tea and coffee and there will be others around to chat to after the film. Climate week runs from the 12th to the 16th of March and there are events all over the country.
