Compost bins have arrived!

We are offering subsidised compost bins as part of our composting programme to help our community reduce kitchen waste. Retail price is normally £40 but we are providing them for £8 and all we ask is that you tell us simply tell us how much you are putting in it for the first month, easily done when using a kitchen caddy which we can provide also.

We have a limited supply so do get in touch if you are interested.

Compost & Wormery workshop

There will also be a follow up session to our successful compost and wormery workshops held during the Sustainable Living Week. If you didn’t make it along to one of the workshops, you are very welcome to join us for this free event. The date is still to be confirmed but we will be looking at how to set up your wormery or compost bin, composting top tips and much more. Contact Lynne for more information.

Fancy a fruit tree for free?

As part of the ‘grow your own’ food programme we will be giving away fruit trees this autumn.  If you have space in your own garden or know of a piece of ground near where you live that you and your neighbours might want to plant a tree in then let us know.

We will be offering apple trees as 1 year old maidens ready to be planted plus we will have a few pears and plums if people prefer, there will be a limit of 1 tree per household.

Appletreeman Andrew Lear will be coming on the 4th December to show us how to plant and look after them. He will also be running a pruning workshop for older, established fruit trees and answering any questions on maintenance of fruit trees.

Contact Lynne for more information or to book your tree and place on the free workshop on the 4th December.

Community Solar Scheme

Our Community Solar Scheme is now up and running. We can provide free information including a home visit for anyone interested in Solar Energy and have negotiated a community discount with a local installer for those who would like to proceed with either electricity or hot water systems.  For more information contact Peter.
